Shafira was drawn into the art of belly dancing in December 1993. She became member of the Jewels of the Desert Belly Dance Troupe in 1994 and owes her love of the dance to her first teacher Eva Cass with whom she trained for 3 years. After Eva left Kalgoorlie in 1996, Shafira, along with two other members of the original troupe Maya and Kalila, kept the Jewels of the Desert performing and teaching classes in Kalgoorlie/Boulder & Kambalda until 2003.
Her performing experience includes stage direction and performance skills gleaned from being involved with the local Goldfields Theatre club, ranging from backstage, onstage, and directing of plays.

2008 - Participated in the Nile Group Oriental Dance Festival workshops - in Cairo, Egypt
2008 - Participated in Weekend workshops in Perth with Jillina from America
2008 - March - Performed & choreographed dance sequences in Scheherazade - Or Tales Told By Scheherazade during a Thousand Nights and One Night" - website - Taz Entertainment - playwrights
2007 to 2008 - Performed with the Isis Dance Troupe.
2005 - Completed Keti Sharif's A-Z Original Belly Dance Routines and became an accredited Instructor.
2003 - Relocated to Perth WA.
1996 - Directed the stage production of "Scheherazade - Or Tales Told By Scheherazade during a Thousand Nights and One Night" at the Goldfields Repertory Theatre Kalgoorlie WA - written by Mark Kont.
